Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, PA 7/11/2006

David Wright (STL) had 2 key base hits and 2 RBI at Citizens Bank Park as the
National League All-Stars beat the American League All-Stars by the count of 7
to 5 in the 2006 SPIBL All-Star Game.

The AL took an early lead behind a 4-run fourth inning, which was highlighted by
a 3-run blast off the bat of Vladimir Guerrero (HOU).  Brett Myers (KCN) and
Derrick Turnbow (FLN) combined to give up 3 hits and a walk in the inning.

The NL continued to chip away at the 5-1 lead with singles runs in the 3rd, 4th,
and 5th innings, including a solo shot by Andruw Jones (ANA) off current 14-game
winner Pedro Martinez (CHA).

In the seventh inning, the NL put up four runs of their own off of losing pitcher
Chris Carpenter (NYA).  He was greeted by three straight singles from Omar Vizquel
(DET), Chase Utley (ANA), and Derrek Lee (TOR).  After a walk to Andruw Jones, game
MVP David Wright came through with the biggest hit of the game with a 2-run single
to left field to put the NL in front for good.

Jason Isringhausen (SEA) got the win with a nice relief outing.  He didn't give up
much, just one hit and no walks in one inning.  The National League had nine hits
for the night while the American League had just five.  Isringhausen got help from
B.J. Ryan (ATL) who was credited with the save.

The starting pitchers were Johan Santana (CHA) for the AL and Roger Clemens (TOR) for
the NL.  They each pitched two shutout innings with just one walk allowed, combining
for five strikeouts.

Hometown hero, Jermaine Dye (PHI), had the Philly fans on their feet in the seventh
innging.  He came to the plate with runners on the corners and just one out.  On the
first pitch, Dye hit a slow grounder to the shortstop for a force out, plating the
NL's final run.  "That was definitely the loudest moment of the game," said NL manager
Mike Van Der Goore (DET).  "Those Philly fans really got behind their guy."

The AL had a chance to tie it up in dramatic fashion in the top of the 8th inning.
With two outs and the bases empty, Aramis Ramirez (NYA) drew a walk off of Francisco
Rodriguez(KCN).  AL skipper Alan Lecher (CHA) sent up pinch hitter David Ortiz (MIL).
After working a full count, the mighty Ortiz struck out.
